This is an injection-plastic military vehicle model kit.
With mass production of the civilian version starting in 1935 and the military version starting in 1937, the Opel Blitz 3-ton 4X2 cargo truck became the backbone of the German military logistics machine in WWII. Its 68hp engine gave it a top speed of 85kp/h and a range of 320km, which with its amazing load-carrying ability made it perfect for the German Army. By the time the production factory was bombed in 1944, over 78,000 examples had been built.
Tamiya's excellent new kit of the 3-ton 4X2 cargo truck (otherwise known as "Opel Blitz") is sharply molded in dark gray styrene, and features a nicely detailed cab interior, chassis, suspension, and cargo bed (no engine included). Includes a set of six fuel drum cans and 16 jerry cans, plus a driver and passenger figure. Markings are provided for four different vehicles. While the characteristic logo badge backing plate on the grill is there, no "Opel Blitz" logo is present, so modelers will have to provide their own (or just pretend it fell off!). A great new softskin kit from Tamiya!
