What are decals in modeling?
The decals are adhesive images that are adhered to the models to better recreate certain details.
They are usually made of transparent paper. Most decals are transferred to the model using water, although self-adhesive decals can also be found.
How to put decals on models?
In modeling, if you are working on vehicles, airplanes, ships or any other military or general model, you can find decal sheets to decorate them.
The decals used in modeling are mostly water decals. They are called water transfer decals, since they adhere to the target surface by applying water.
- Dry cut only the decal you are going to apply.
- Immerse the decal in warm water, without forcing it to submerge. This way the water will first penetrate the paper of the plate.
- Once it is well moistened, it can be handled either with tweezers or with wet fingers.
- Place the decal on the model.
Once placed in the right place, use an absorbent cloth to remove excess moisture.
