This helicopter is an improved version of the AH-64A developed by McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing).

In addition to a redesigned cockpit, a new engine, and improved electronics, it is equipped with the AN/APG-78 Longbow millimeter wave radar.

The Longbow radar has the ability to detect more than 1,000 targets, among which it can identify and locate targets and establish response priorities.

The radar is installed on the rotor, giving it a distinctive appearance, but there are also aircraft without radar, such as the DN model for the Netherlands.
