Including grass- and concrete textures, as well as grass mat and 4 bags of littering material. Uni-scale-product. The grass mat is 11,5 by 8,5 inches (30x21cm). The bags contain sufficient sand, bright grass, dark grass and flockage. The textures are printed on super-heavy 300g cardboard. Everything you need for the groundworks of your aicraft diorama display.

How to work with the Scenic Display "Old Concrete"

In the following I´ll show you a short SBS sequence on how to bring your scenic display into 3d. First of all, get your tools and material ready.

  • 1mm cardboard or plastic sheet
  • Heavy duty pair of scissors
  • Pair of tweezers
  • Hobby knife
  • White carpenter glue with a few drops of water
  • Superglue
  • Black pen or color
  • Various littering material (grass)

Once we have that sorted we can start kickn´it.

The plan in general is as follows. First we plan the layout and decide how many elements we cut separately and how many we leave as "blocks".

After this we "crop the image" and cut away all we dont need. Then we start the glueing process. In detail we can do it like this:

Some more remarks.

Variants:

We have two ways to render the "panel lines" between the concrete plates:

  1. Cut the material into separate elements as shown above and add littering material into the panel lines.
  2. Do not cut the concrete plates into separate elements, at least not all of it. Render vegetation by applying thin lines of white glue instead. Sprinkle the littering upon it. (Fig.11)

The fastest variant is version No.2.

We just apply thin lines of the white glue, sprinkle our litter on it and blow away all the excess. In case we need some more, we just do it again on the proper position. In case we have applied too much, we just "weed out" a little bit until we are fine.

Number 2 also has its charme in terms of rendering partially overgrown panel lines. In my opinion the combination of both is the way to go. You may check your references and match everything to your taste and satisfaction.

The entire operation shown above took about 2,5h. I dont know how to come to a nice scenic display even faster.

Improvements:

I recommend to apply some of the littering material also on the grassy area. To provide a good grip for the litter, I recommend to thin some white glue with water and spray over the grassy texture.

Sprinkle littering material on these areas and let it set. Repeat this step in several layers until you are satisfied. Consider use of adhesive spray cans. Also consider to integrate fine sand and pigments.

The printed sheets might be a bit glossy due to the production methods applied. Spray a thin coat of flat clear to reduce this effect. Consider the effective application of pigments and airbrush-shading effects on zhe sand, the concrete planks and the grass.

Thanks for your attention! We hope you enjoyed the little tour. :-)

Yours sincerely,

Uschi & Alex :-)))
