Honey Primer Its main use is a primer for the hi-shine finishes,if you mask and paint some panels gloss black, remove the tape and spray clear base over the entire model-then use 1 hi-shine shade the result will be a difference in 'tonal value' due to the light and dark base (as most kits are grey or silver plastic the panels which have only clear on them as a base modify the strength of the reflected light). The clear can be used as a base for the normal Alclad colours but it should be left for 24 hours before being painted over.
Alclad II Lacquers will reproduce a wide range of realistic and durable metal finishes on aircraft, car and truck models, armour and figures.
APPLICATION GUIDE-PLASTIC MODELS:
For use on injection plastic kits a primer is necessary. 'Regular ALCLAD' is similar in strength to lacquer/cellulose car paints-injected polystyrene plastics frequently have areas which ALCLAD can craze.
Apply one of these primers before using Regular ALCLAD:
Tamiya Plastic Primers-white or grey
Auto Primer-white or grey
Future/Klear -floor sealer/polish
Plastic primers and auto primers should be lightly polished with 1000/1200 wet & dry paper to give a less absorbent glossy surface .
High Shine Finishes-Polished Aluminium, Chrome for plastic and Stainless Steel require a dark glossy base, use
Alclad Gloss Black Base
SPRAYING
" Alclad should be sprayed at 15-20psi.
" Spray from1 1/2 -2 1/2 inches away from the model.
" Apply light coats.
" Use the airbrush like a paint brush not an aerosol.
" Buffing is not necessary-though tonal variation can be made by polishing selected panels with Micromesh.
" A sealer is not required.
" Regular Alclad can be masked and over-painted. Decal solutions can be used with Regular Alclad, but are not recommended for Polished Aluminium,Chrome or Stainless Steel.
Transparent colours-these finishes can be applied directly over Regular Alclad to produce heat stains and anodised effects-Alclad High Shine Finishes will require sealing with water based clear before the application of Alclad Transparent colours.
