"Metal Slug" is a series of side-scrolling action shooting video games first released by SNK in 1996. Players infiltrate the military bases of rebels and terrorists by operating a special agent to free allied prisoners and destroy enemy forces. This 2D action game involves the annihilation and destruction of secret weapons. It was released on the home video game consoles Neo Geo and Neo Geo CD, as well as the arcade Neo Geo MVS (Multi Video System), and was later ported to other home video game consoles. The title "Metal Slug" comes from the high-performance single-seat small tank that appears in the series. Its beautiful 2D dot art, well-crafted production, high-quality music and gameplay made it very attractive, and in recent years it has become very popular with new titles.
"Metal Slug 3" was the fourth installment in the series, debuting in arcades and on the Neo Geo in 2000. A route branching system from the stage structure was adopted for the first time; new weapons such as new slugs were added, as were unique enemies and new elements such as "zombification" that made this work suitable for its slogan of "the greatest fierce battle in history." In the game's story, the rebellion war led by Marshal Morden has become a thing of the past, and order and peace have finally begun to return to the world. However, Marshal Morden's fate is unknown, and remnants of his army are still hiding in various parts of the world. As a result, Marco and Tarma of the Falcons continued their mission. At the same time, the Sparrows, a special agency belonging to the Regular Military Intelligence Department, was investigating mysterious incidents such as the kidnapping of livestock, the disappearance of important people, and the abnormal growth of living things. The intelligence department determined that there was some connection between the remnants of Morden's army and the mysterious incidents, and once again a joint operation between the Sparrows and the Falcons began.
