Strike Fighter Squadron 154 (VFA-154), also known as the "Black Knights", is a United States Navy strike fighter squadron stationed at Naval Air Station Lemoore. The Black Knights are an operational fleet squadron flying the F/A-18F Super Hornet. As of 2014, VFA-154 is attached to Carrier Air Wing Eleven (CVW-11) and deployed aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN-68). Their call sign is "Knight".

The roots of VFA-154 can be traced back to VBF-718, a Naval Air Reserve squadron which was established at NAS New York, on 1 July 1946. The squadron was redesignated VF-68A, on 1 February 1947, VF-837 on 1 December 1949, VF-154 on 4 February 1953 and, finally, VFA-154 on 1 October 2003.

Steve Ginter's Books has just released an outstanding in-depth history of the Black Knights written by renowned naval aviation historian, Angelo Romano, with contributions by icon photographer and former Editor-In-Chief and Founder of The Hook Magazine, Robert L. Lawson.

The book, titled Black Knights Rule! (BKR) - A Pictorial History of VBF-718 / VF-68A / VF-837 / VF-154 / VFA-154 - 1946-2013, is the first one of the new US NAVY SQUADRON HISTORIES. The photo coverage on the lineage of the Black Knights is as comprehensive as one has ever seen, both in terms of photography and historical content. Angelo Romano has set a new standard that will put most published unit histories to "shame".

Angelo had so far published five books: Wings from Coral Sea (Golden Wing Publications, 1986), Naval Fighters (Osprey, 1990), Naval Air Weapons Meet 1956-1959 (Model Publishing, 2006), First and Foremost - An illustrated History of Carrier Air Wing One - CVW-1 Part One 1934-1957 (Model Publishing, 2006) and CVW-1 Part Two 1957-1973 (Model Publishing, 2008).

Angelo "outdid" himself with the BKR book and, by teaming with Steve Ginter in the US NAVY SQUADRON HISTORIES, he will surely broaden his name recognition in the worldwide book market, as Ginter's Books have nowadays become the benchmark among the naval aviation history reference publications. Well done Angelo and Steve!

106 B&W and 378 color photos, 84 color patches, 11 color profiles.
